Winter Warmth: Modern Blanket Storage Solutions

When the winter is in full swing, warmth is a must. But, how can you possibly store enough blankets without things turning into a pile of clutter or draping a throw across every piece of furniture? Storage solutions are essential, and there’s no limit to the modern options out there.

So, forget about turning to those heavy mismatched blankets you have to dig out of the basement when those temps drop to negative levels. Instead, make a blanket display that works for you and your style, and choose blankets you love to use and look at with patterns and colors that fit the confines of your room’s palette. By opting for a sleek storage option that fits your needs, we guarantee you’ll happily wait out the rest of the winter in style.

Ladders

Blanket ladders are amazing additions to any space because they don’t take up a lot of valuable floor space and they provide an out-of-the way method to store extra layers. Plus, since it’s literally a ladder, you can store multiple blankets all at once and move the entire collection around to different rooms if needed. With blankets that lay flat and are extremely easy to pull on and off whenever you need a dose of warmth, it doesn’t get much better.

Wall Hooks & Bars

Another great way to store blankets without cluttering the floor is to invest in wall hooks, bars, or racks. Not only are they handy in terms of having a blanket or two on standby, but they’re also quite beautiful and act as artwork as well. The pattern you choose or the way you drape the fabric can instantly add a whole new dimension of beauty to your space.

Baskets

Baskets are a wonderful go-to storage solution, and they’re the perfect way to have a few additional blankets at the ready in just about any room you need. We love them next to a fireplace, but you can easily set them to the side of a favorite lounge chair or slide one or two into an out-of-the-way space in your entryway. Plus, when it comes to baskets, there is such a wide variety of styles to choose from. Metal, woven, rope, or a standalone hoop - whatever your style, there’s a storage solution to fit it.

Ottomans

We can never get enough of ottomans with a center storage space. This versatile piece of furniture doubles up as a footrest or coffee table, and whenever the weather warms up and you no longer need blanket storage, you can easily use that space for something else (like easily accessible beach towels).

Side Chair Stack

Have you ever heard the term “chairdrobe?” Essentially, it’s a chair wardrobe - a place we tend to stash our clothes at the end of the day instead of taking the time to put them away. What happens, of course, is that the pile gets so high it takes on a life of its own. But the chairdrobe can be useful when it comes to blanket storage. We love the idea of creating what we call the side chair stack. Take a chair that isn’t essential for day-to-day activities (ideally one with a unique silhouette) and place it in a corner spot or a space against a blank wall. Then, simply fold a few blankets and stack them in a neat pile, and not only are they easily accessible but they double as a visual point of interest in the room.

Winter doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style for warmth. Invest in a blanket storage solution (or a few), and you’re sure to have a home that feels like a perfectly cozy retreat you’ll never want to leave.
